L’animatore sociale è un operatore che, nell’ambito dei servizi sociali e assistenziali, svolge attività di animazione espressiva e figurativa di gruppo, promuove e realizza interventi di prevenzione e riduzione del disagio sociale di varia natura. L’animatore sociale progetta e realizza attività collettive di carattere educativo, socio-culturale e ricreativo rivolte prevalente-

mente a disabili, anziani, minori svantaggiati, persone con disagio psichiatrico ed altri soggetti in situazione di svantaggio. Egli opera in stretta collaborazione con altre figure professionali e con servizi del territorio. Trova collocazione, come dipendente o autonomo, in strutture pubbliche e private in cui si svolgono attività finalizzate alla promozione delle potenzialità di relazione, partecipazione e autostima individuali e collettive, alla prevenzione delle marginalità e

del disagio sociale, alla integrazione e partecipazione sociale (servizi residenziali, centri diurni socio – educativi, case di riposo, comunità per minori, ecc..
